It was last May when I started Scrappy Hours, and I really enjoy sharing my ideas and learning from the ideas of others. In honor of my first anniversary, I have decided to implement a monthly challenge here at Scrappy Hours. Each month, I will select a topic and a related quote which I will post on the first day of each month. What I will ask of you is that you create cards or scrapbook layouts inspired by the quote and share them via the comments.
Since this is the inaugural challenge, I don’t have any design team members, so for now, you just have to put up with my interpretations (which I will post periodically throughout the month). I would, however, like to invite anyone who is interested to join my Scrappy Hours Design Team. In order to do so, please post a comment with either a card or a layout using the quote and let me know that you would like to create something for me each month based on the quote of my choice.
Okay, now down to the nitty-gritty. The theme for this month is Mothers. I know, it is predictable but Mother’s Day is right around the corner. The quotation that I have selected is from William Makepeace Thackeray and it is:
Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.
Here is a small layout that I created using this quotation:
I met this woman and child when I was in Uganda about a year and a half ago. I don’t recall if she is actually the child’s mother or if the child was an orphan. Either way, in this child’s heart, this woman was everything.
