One of my favorite neighbors is going to be celebrating her 10th birthday this Sunday, and, since she is one of my favorites, I wanted to make her a special birthday card. Her mom told me the colors for the party are varying shades of purple with a star theme. I decided to make the card so that it could work for the current challenge over at Cute Card Thursday which is to create a card without using any designer papers.
The purples just didn’t photograph very well. The darker color is a nice eggplant and then there is a medium purple and the sentiment is printed on lavender card stock mounted on yellow. (I just love purple and yellow together so I had to include a touch of yellow on the card.) The front of the card says:
To be a star, you must
shine your own light,
follow your own path,
and don’t worry
about the darkness,
for that is when
the stars shine brightest.
I didn’t want to make just a straight card, so I did a double card that kind of opens backwards. Here is the inside:
I used more of the yellow inside and just hand-wrote a sentiment.
I really hope that my neighbor loves it. She has faced a lot of challenges in her life, and the way in which she has faced those challenges truly makes her a shining star.
